Let me first say that I have a newfound respect for those who blog regularly. I’m only on blog #3 and I’m struggling with what to write about. To ease my struggles, I am going to use alliteration. I probably get too much joy out of alliterations and acronyms. So, for this Father series I’m going to write on topics beginning with the letter F.

The first F in this series is Family. I absolutely love my little family- mother dearest, big sis Cindy, and the broski-in-law Jason. (Oh, and soon to be nephew Andrew!) I’m continually reminded of how blessed I am by my family. As I look back over my childhood, another blessing from my heavenly Father were men who stepped in during seasons of my life to guide and direct me. These men lived a life that pointed me to God. These men showed me that my God is a provider. My heavenly Father provided examples of earthly fathers living out their calling. Just as earthly fathers are to provide for their families, our heavenly Father provides for His children.  I’m also reminded by their actions toward me that we, as believers in the Gospel, are all members of a bigger family- the body of Christ. First Corinthians 12:12 says, “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.”

Just as these men were a blessing to a fatherless child, how are we being a blessing to one another? Because we are united through the blood of Christ shed for us on the cross, do we look out for one another? We’re family! Let’s provide for each other and be a blessing.

“Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”
