*We will continue to update this statement/page in the weeks to come*

Updated – June 28, 2020

We are so excited to see your campers this summer! We are dedicated to making sure everyone has a fun, but safe and healthy time at camp. There is so much information that we want to share with you, so we have created a 2020 Parent Resource Kit that will provide you with detailed information about important forms required for your camper to attend this summer, as well as detailed maps, new check-in procedures, and an updated packing list.

Also, here’s a short video that outlines the 5 main things you’ll need to know before dropping your camper off with us this summer! Thank you all so much and we look forward to seeing you and your campers on check-in day!

You are a supportive and faithful community. We are appreciative of your patience during this unprecedented time. After prayerful consideration, the Board of Directors has decided to proceed with camp, adjusting our summer schedule, with our first session beginning the week of June 28, 2020.

If you registered your child for one of the first two summer sessions, those have been canceled. However, you may choose a different session this summer for your child to attend. Camp staff will contact you regarding your options.

The removal of these sessions will allow camp and camp staff time to prepare and provide a safe and fun experience, while implementing CDC, ACA guidelines and government regulations. An average session will be limited to no more than 125 campers. Due to that compliance, sessions may look a little different this year with camper connections streamlined to their cabin mates through-out the day and week, however, we believe the purpose of camp will still be fulfilled.

We believe in the power of camp and the sense of community and belonging it provides our campers. Our mission is that Camp Oak Hill shares and models the love of Jesus Christ through intentional relationships while providing safe, challenging and joy-filled experiences. We also understand you have a decision to make. There are several options to consider as you consider your next steps:

  • If you are registered for a session, from June 28th on, and feel attending camp this summer is the right decision for your family, please make arrangements for final payment by June 19th. If your final payment is not received by then, we will transfer your tuition to 2021.
  • Should you decide that camp is not the right option this summer, we humbly ask you to move your tuition forward to 2021.
  • If you have not registered yet, but plan to do so given the revised summer sessions, please register by June 5th, with final payment due June 19th. Space is limited as we are restricting numbers to 125 campers per summer session to abide by CDC/ACA guidelines in conjunction with State and Local government.

Should you have questions or concerns, please direct those to our camp office at info@campoakhill.org. We look forward to an enhanced partnership this summer, and more than ever, we appreciate your love and generosity to Camp Oak Hill. Thank you!

Updated – May 9, 2020

Earlier this week, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper signed Executive Order No. 138, communicating the details for activating Phase 1 of our state’s reopening plans. Overnight camps are currently not a part of Phase 1, and we are awaiting further guidance from the American Camp Association (ACA) and the CDC to determine if overnight camps will be able to open in Phase 2. For more information on Phase 1, you can read the FAQ’s here (you can see the detailed implications for camps on page 5).

We want to thank you for your prayers and your patience as we continue to modify our operating procedures and respond to current restrictions in light of COVID-19. Our goal remains to provide you with a safe and enjoyable camp experience this summer, but we will only move forward if we can do so responsibly and without risk to our camp families and greater community.

The COH Board of Directors is actively considering all components that affect our ability to fulfill our mission. We expect to have more information on Phase 2 from the Governor’s office, the ACA, and the CDC during the week of May 18th. We will share updates and decisions for summer 2020 with you as soon as we have reviewed this information.

As always, we thank you for your continued support and prayers for Camp Oak Hill and our world.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@campoakhill.org.

Updated – April 29th, 2020

The Board of Directors is officially overseeing camp at this time while our staff is on furlough. COVID-19 prevented camp from operating retreats since early March and as a result, Camp Oak Hill has suffered a significant loss in revenue. We are also unsure how COVID-19 will influence group size and social distancing this summer. Although camp may look different this summer, we remain hopeful for how God will move.  Please know our camp family’s health and safety is our number one priority.

The Board will continue to monitor the status of the world and the possibility of having our June sessions.  Therefore, we have decided to extend the date camp fees are due to May 30.  By May 15, we will determine if June camp is feasible.

In the meantime, please be in prayer for camp and our world. We believe that Jesus is on the throne and this is no surprise to Him. Let’s all turn to Him during this time of uncertainty, fear, and worry. He sees us and is with us. We pray for His will to be done with this beautiful place that we all love. Our hearts long to see you soon!

Due to the impact of COVID-19, effective Sunday, April 19, 2020, Camp Oak Hill will be closed for a period of seven days.

During this time, we are asking all COH family to join us as we seek the Lord each day through prayer and fasting for our world, nation, community, and camp.  Please note that we will not be able to return any emails or calls until the week of April 27th.  Thank you for your understanding and faithfulness!  We serve a mighty and faithful God and look forward to His plan for Camp Oak Hill.

First, we love you all and are praying for safety and discernment as we navigate the waters of what is going on in our world with the COVID-19 outbreak and the national and local responses to it. We are certainly concerned for our community and are paying close attention to authorities and experts. We are also trying to remain flexible as we make decisions that impact our operations in this very fluid situation. Please note the following:

  • We are a people of prayer and peace because of Jesus
  • We have put precautions in place to make sure our staff remains healthy, including preparing for our employees to work from home if conditions require it
  • Planning continues for summer camp; however, we realize that things could look different and are considering various scenarios
  • We have postponed/canceled several events (detailed below), and we will continue to update this page with the latest information
  • At this time, many of our spring retreat groups are being postponed due to mandated restrictions of large group gatherings; once those have been lifted we are looking forward to hosting groups again and welcoming guests at our retreat center!
  • Preparing for the worst, expecting the best of what God, and He alone, has in store!

In times like these we turn to each other and to scripture for comfort and steadiness. Please reach out to us to let us know how we can support each other!

Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken.

My victory and honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.

O my people, trust in him at all times.
Pour out your heart to him,
    for God is our refuge

Psalm 62:5-8
