I was unemployed a couple of years ago when Jerry (Facilities Manager) told a friend he was looking for someone to work in the kitchen at camp.
My friend’s parents live beside me, and on the day she came by their house I was working in the yard. Seeing me, she asked: “Have you found a job yet?”
“No,” I said, “the right one has not come along yet.” She said Jerry at Camp Oak Hill was looking for a kitchen person. I had worked there part time about 20 years ago, so I said “Okay, I’ll go see Jerry about it…”
It was a God thing because I know He put me there in the yard at the right time for my friend to let me know about the job. I got hired, and started in January 2012.
To me it is truly a God thing and I’ve been very happy here at camp and really enjoying serving people, just as God commanded us to do… Serve.
